Distal, aka Michael Rathbun has played his unique style of Atlanta-based future bass to dancefloors around the world. When he comes to Smartbar this upcoming Thursday, July 12th, you can expect a diverse mix of all different strains of bass music and beyond; you may hear Surgeon and you may hear The Ying Yang Twins. You may hear his own juke collab with a beloved Chicago icon or you may hear something more in the vein of this jackin’ cowbell and acid affair, recently licensed for a major compilation.
His productions reveal an adept hand at crafting both the moody atmospheres of the deeper side of dubstep as well as the harder, infections, percussion-heavy stuttering rhythms and beefy basslines synonymous with the Atlanta sound. He proudly proclaims his debut album, Civilization, to be a genre-blurring, broad representation of all his work.
