Juke Fest 2012
Bang Tha Box Recordingz once again takes over Smarbar this upcoming Friday for Jukefest, their annual showcase of the best juke, ghetto house and footwoork music in the city. Dance crews from all over Chicago will be in the building, doing battle over a soundtrack of the amped-up BPMs, infectious vocals and hard-hitting kicks that Juke music is known for.
As is the case with this annual event, now in it’s fifth year, the stacked lineup is loaded with innovative djs and producers who have been in the scene since its infancy. There is perhaps no better place to start a disucussion of juke and footwork muisc, and why its popularity has grown worldwide than with the proflific production careers of headliners DJ Gant-Man, DJ Rashad, and DJ Spinn.
Attendees can expect intensely physical, snappy sounds inspired from all corners of the dance music world; acid house to disco to ghetto house to hip-hop, chopped up and spit out in a heavy, funky sensory overload well-suited to Smartbar’s legendary sound system.
